Mater's program

In order to acquire a master 's degree, it is necessary to satisfy the following requirements: 1) studying in the former course for 2 years or more, 2) acquiring more than 30 credits of the given subjects, 3) submitting your master's thesis and pass the defense. Also, students who raised excellent research achievements can finish the program in less than years. The degree that you can acquire in this program is Master of Science.

PhD program

In order to acquire a PhD degree, it is necessary to satisfy the following requirements: 1) studying for 3 years or more, 2) acquiring more than 12 credits of the given subjects, 3) submitting your doctoral thesis after satisfying the paper submission requirements. Also, students who gave excellent research achievements can finish the program in less than 3 years. The degree that you can acquire in this program is PhD (Science).

Double Degree Program (DDP) with National Taiwan University

This program allows students to obtain master’s degree from both University of Tsukuba and National Taiwan University upon completion of certain requirements.

2. Requirements
Students who wish to complete DDP acquire at least 20 credits in courses offered by University of Tsukuba, acquire at least 10 credits in courses offered by National Taiwan University. And students acquire a total of 30 credits, submit a master’s thesis, and pass a final defense.

3. Schedule for DDP
Students enrolled at University of Tsukuba are required to take the courses at University of Tsukuba during the spring semester of the 1st year. And students will stay at National Taiwan University for two semesters starting in September and earn at least 10 credits in courses offered by National Taiwan University. In the fall semester of the 2nd year, students take required courses at University of Tsukuba and submit a master’s thesis and take a final defense. Research guidance and the examination of master’s thesis will be conducted jointly by faculty members from both universities.

Selection: After passing the general entrance examination, an admission decision (oral examination using a remote conference system) will be made by the partner university. Details will be explained at the orientation.
